The world has come to what can almost be called a standstill. And while I don’t know where you live or what your scenario is, I can tell you that around here people are losing their jobs left-right-and-centre. They have no idea where their next paycheck is coming from and they’re freaking out (for damn good reason). If you’re in the same boat (or you’re headed in that direction) is it time for you to get a side hustle?

What is a side hustle?
While you might have a different side hustle definition than I do, in my books a side hustle is something that you do to bring in extra cash. Further than that though, it’s something that’s completely yours. You have control over where and how far it goes.
A side hustle isn’t simply a part-time job. In my books it’s a business you run that brings in money for you. You are the boss, you get to decide whether you do it or not (you should!) and you get to decide whether it’s worth it or not. It’s something you do for you, and it’s something that adds a little stability into your life financially.
Why should you consider starting a side hustle?
Even the most stable of jobs really isn’t that stable. If we’ve learned nothing else over these past few weeks, things can turn bad FAST. But that’s not the worst of it…
It might surprise you to know that MOST of us are living paycheck-to-paycheck. Even those that aren’t quite that bad are often carrying large amounts of debt that we simply can’t handle, especially when it comes to crisis mode.
We are in an unstable state when it comes to our money and we really need to fix it!
Enter: the side hustle.
I am a firm believer that we all need something, anything that can help us bring in a little extra cash, whether it’s to book that next Disneyland vacation, pay off our student loans faster or just have a little cushion when times get tough because times always get tough eventually.
Creating side hustles to make money doesn’t have to have the end goal of having a Fortune 500 company. Honestly, you don’t even have to want to quit your job to bring in some extra money—maybe you have an awesome job and you just want some extra cash to get yourself a new cute outfit once a month.
Your side hustle can be whatever you want it to be, and it can do whatever you want it to do for you. But it’s damn good to have something to fall back on… just in case.
